Periodontal and Gum Disease Treatments and Procedures

There are a variety of non-surgical and surgical procedures available to assist in the treatment of periodontitis and the early stages of gum disease. The dental team at Rodek Dental Arts tailors treatment to fit the exact needs of our patients. During your visit, you will receive a thorough dental examination to allow our dentists and hygienists the change to better understand your current oral health needs. From there, we will provide you with your personalized treatment plan to address any issues and maintain your ongoing gum health.

PERIO-PROTECT

These prescription, custom-created dental trays provide a non-invasive way to deliver medication deep into the periodontal pockets of your gum line, treating the disease at the source.  These trays are able to be worn in the comfort of your own home for minutes at a time, and serve as an alternative treatment to more invasive scaling and planing methods. This periodontal treatment is also the only periodontal medication cleared by the FDA

DEEP CLEANING, SCALING, AND ROOT PLANING

This non-surgical method, most commonly known as the conventional therapy to treating periodontal issues, allows our dental team an opportunity to provide a deep cleaning of your teeth and roots, removing calculus and buildup from the surface of the tooth and smoothing the surface of any exposed roots. This procedure can help with allowing the gums to reattach to the teeth, if the gums have begun to recede.

LOCALLY PLACED ANTIBIOTICS TO COMBAT GUM DISEASE

Local antibiotics are commonly used to combat bacteria and infection when dealing with gum disease or periodontal infections. Localized delivery of these medications allow the antibiotic to better target the specific area of infection, versus taking an oral medication.
